Frequently Asked Questions

Answers about Basharat Atelier made-to-order leather jackets, measurements, materials, ordering, delivery, returns and care.

01

Made to order

What does made-to-order mean?

Your jacket is placed into production after your order is confirmed. We review the submitted size and measurement information before cutting and assembly. Made-to-order is different from buying a finished jacket from stock, but it does not necessarily mean a fully bespoke pattern is drafted from scratch.

Are Basharat Atelier jackets ready-made?

Our made-to-order styles are produced after purchase rather than selected from finished inventory. The exact options available for each design are stated on its product page.

Can I personalize a jacket?

Only options shown on the product page or confirmed by us in writing are included. Contact us before ordering if you are considering a different leather, colour, hardware detail or proportion; some requests may affect price, timing and return eligibility.

Is made-to-order the same as bespoke?

No. A bespoke garment usually involves an individually drafted pattern and may involve fittings. Our standard made-to-order service begins with an existing design and the sizing or measurement process described for that product.

02

Leather and materials

What leather do you use?

The leather type, finish, lining and principal hardware should be listed on each product page. Because these details can differ by design, use the individual product specification as the authority rather than assuming every jacket uses the same hide.

What is the difference between lambskin and cowhide?

Lambskin is generally lighter, softer and more fluid. Cowhide is generally firmer, heavier and more resistant to abrasion. Thickness, tanning and finish also affect the result, so the best choice depends on the intended structure and use of the jacket.

Will the leather look exactly like the photograph?

Natural leather can show differences in grain, tone and surface character. Screen settings and lighting also affect colour. These variations are not automatically defects, although genuine material or construction faults are assessed separately.

Is your leather waterproof?

Do not assume a leather jacket is waterproof unless the specific product page states a verified treatment or performance standard. Avoid prolonged rain and follow our leather care guide if the jacket becomes wet.

03

Size and fit

How should a leather jacket fit?

It should sit cleanly across the shoulders, fasten without strong pulling, allow comfortable arm movement and provide suitable room for the layers you plan to wear. The intended silhouette matters: a café racer may sit closer than a bomber or overshirt.

How do I take my measurements?

Use a flexible tape over light clothing, keep it level and do not pull it tight. Follow our illustrated leather jacket size and measurement guide for the exact points to measure.

What if I am between sizes?

Do not choose solely from your usual label size. Compare your body and reference-jacket measurements with the product guide, consider your preferred layering, and contact us before purchase if the result is unclear.

Will you review my measurements?

[CONFIRM: explain exactly which measurements are reviewed, how customers are contacted about an apparent inconsistency, and whether this review is advisory rather than a guarantee.]

04

Ordering and payment

How do I place an order?

Select a jacket, choose the available options, provide the requested sizing information, review the order and complete payment. See How to Order for the complete process.

Which payment methods do you accept?

[CONFIRM: list only payment methods that are active at checkout.] Available methods and currencies will be displayed during checkout before payment is completed.

When will I be charged?

[CONFIRM: state whether payment is captured in full at checkout, authorized first, or handled through a deposit and balance.]

Can I change or cancel my order?

Contact us immediately. Changes or cancellation may be possible before materials are allocated or production begins, but cannot be guaranteed afterward. Your order confirmation and our Returns & Exchanges policy explain the applicable terms.

05

Production

How long does a made-to-order jacket take?

[CONFIRM: typical production range] after the order and required measurements are confirmed. This is an estimate rather than a guaranteed delivery date, and courier transit time is separate.

When does production begin?

Production begins after payment and all required order details have been accepted. If information is missing or appears inconsistent, the order may remain on hold while we contact you.

Can I track the production of my jacket?

[CONFIRM: describe the updates customers receive—for example, order confirmation, production confirmation and dispatch notice.]

06

Shipping and delivery

Where do you deliver?

[CONFIRM: countries or regions currently served and any excluded destinations.] See Shipping & Delivery for current availability.

How long does delivery take?

[CONFIRM: estimated courier transit ranges by region.] Transit begins after dispatch and does not include made-to-order production, customs processing or delays outside the carrier’s control.

Will I receive tracking?

[CONFIRM: tracking process.] Where tracked delivery is available, the dispatch message should include the carrier and tracking reference.

Are duties and taxes included?

[CONFIRM: whether shipments are DDP with duties paid, or DAP with the recipient responsible.] Import duties, taxes and handling fees depend on the destination and shipment terms.

07

Returns and exchanges

Can I return a made-to-order jacket?

Eligibility depends on how the jacket was made and the reason for return. Personalized or measurement-specific goods may be excluded from change-of-mind returns where permitted by law. This does not remove applicable rights for items that are faulty, damaged or materially different from their description. Read the full policy before ordering.

How quickly must I report a problem?

[CONFIRM: return-request period and separate damaged-delivery reporting period.] Contact us promptly with your order number, description and clear photographs, and retain the packaging while the issue is reviewed.

What if my jacket does not fit?

Contact us before wearing or altering it. We will compare the supplied measurements, confirmed order details and finished garment. The available remedy depends on the cause and the published policy; do not send an item back without return instructions.

08

Leather care

How should I store my leather jacket?

Use a broad supportive hanger in a cool, dry and ventilated wardrobe. Leave space around the jacket, avoid prolonged direct sunlight, and use a breathable garment cover rather than sealed plastic.

Can I machine-wash a leather jacket?

Normally, no. Water, detergent and tumbling can damage the hide, finish, lining, hardware and structure. Follow the garment care label and use a qualified leather-garment cleaner when specialist cleaning is necessary.

How often should leather be conditioned?

There is no universal schedule. Leather type, finish, climate and wear all matter. Use only a compatible product when care guidance recommends it or the leather shows genuine dryness, and patch test first.

Where can I find complete care instructions?

Read our Leather Care page for guidance on drying, cleaning, conditioning, spills and long-term storage. The care label supplied with the garment remains the first authority for that particular jacket.
